The company is actively implementing strategic water transmission projects and water distribution network projects across various wilayats, keeping pace with urban and population expansion. Among the key projects currently underway is the construction of water distribution networks for the Wilayats of Ibri, Yanqul, and Dhank in Dhahirah Governorate (Packages 1 and 2). Nama Water Services recently held an introductory meeting in Dhahirah Governorate to present the project, which has recently entered its execution phase. The project aims to provide safe and sustainable drinking water to all residents of the three wilayats and to enhance the water distribution network system, ensuring the supply of drinking water to the growing population in the governorate. Furthermore, the project seeks to strengthen strategic water storage in the wilayats of Ibri, Yanqul, and Dhank to meet future demand through to 2050, based on demographic and urban expansion indicators. The project includes 22,000 water connections, benefiting over 270,000 people in the three wilayats, with the number of connections expected to reach half a million by 2050. The project scope includes the construction of 41 ground storage tanks with capacities ranging from 200 m³ to 93,500 m³, and 8 elevated tanks with capacities between 300 m³ and 600 m³. It also involves building 35 pumping stations with capacities ranging from 4 m³/hour to 4,936 m³/hour. In addition, the project will install transmission pipelines with diameters ranging from 150 mm to 1,000 mm, spanning a total length of 608 km, along with water distribution networks extending 1,130 km, with diameters ranging from 110 mm to 355 mm. The total investment in the project amounts to OMR 235 million. Construction activities began in early December of this year, with completion expected in the second quarter of 2028. The project will also enhance opportunities within the wilayats, including the Omanization of supervisory and implementation roles. Furthermore, it will allocate approximately OMR 20 million in opportunities and contracts to small and medium enterprises, in addition to creating further opportunities in local services, industries, assets, and community contributions.
