Al Dhahirah Governorate

Al Dhahirah Governorate is known for its rich agricultural resources, attractive tourism offerings and historical significance. It has witnessed significant development across all key sectors during the Omani Renaissance. Geographically, the governorate is characterised by a semi-desert plain that descends from the southern foothills of the Western Hajar Mountains toward the Empty Quarter desert. It is bordered to the east by the Al Kur Mountains, which separate it from Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, to the west it stretches into the Empty Quarter, and to the south, it connects with Al Wusta Governorate.
Al Dhahirah Governorate consists of three Wilayats, Ibri, Yanqul and Dhank. The population of the governorate is approximately 240,529 people, with around 173,327 Omanis, making up 72.1% of the total population. The governorate has experienced significant development across all key sectors during the prosperous reign of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik — may Allah protect and preserve him. This development is driven by royal directives aimed at supporting all governorates, fostering their growth, and providing essential services to enhance their progress. These efforts align with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, which focuses on developing communities and cities, investing in available opportunities across various sectors, including education and healthcare, and promoting economic diversification and sustainability.
